Confidentiality

By default, the coaching is confidential. Without your explicit permission, I will not share your personal information, that you are a client, or what we talk about with outside parties. With your permission, I may share that you are my client and information you authorize to be released publicly such as a testimonial.

One exception to this policy is in the case of imminent harm to yourself or another person. In cases where I expect there is a risk of imminent harm, I may disclose such information as is required to ensure the safety of all parties.

I may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, involving illegal activity, or for the protection of legal rights. Please be aware that the Coach-Client relationship is not considered a legally confidential relationship (like the medical and legal professions) and thus communications are not subject to the protection of any legally recognized privilege.

According to the ethics of coaching, topics may be anonymously shared for coach professional development and/or consultation purposes. When I do so, I generally use composites of multiple clients or otherwise anonymize the data so even the person being discussed wouldn’t know it was about them.
